We are a leading alternative finance provider, dedicated to meeting the needs of our customer base while effectively managing risk. As a Senior Underwriter, you will play a critical role in evaluating client proposals and determining whether they meet our lending criteria.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Financial Risk Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in credit risk and experience working with UK SMEs.

Responsibilities
  1. Evaluate client proposals and assess credit risk, using qualitative and quantitative information available both internally and externally.
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to gather information required for informed lending decisions.
  3. Assess transactions based on knowledge of risk management principles and ensure timely completion of credit risk assessments within standard SLAs.
  4. Identify high-risk accounts and liaise with internal/external stakeholders to recommend appropriate actions.
  5. Support the Collections Team with recovery cases as needed.
  6. Offer coaching and guidance to junior colleagues on best practices in credit risk management.
Requirements
  1. A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar underwriting role, preferably in alternative finance.
  2. Strong knowledge of credit risk and an ability to think critically.
  3. Thorough understanding of UK SMEs and their financial requirements.
  4. In-depth knowledge of financial accounts, including P&L accounts, Balance Sheets, and Cashflow Forecasts.
  5. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  6. High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
