Design Team Lead

We are seeking an experienced Design Team Lead to oversee the development and improvement of product designs using SolidWorks. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the design team and collaborating with external customers to capture and incorporate design requirements into product development.

About the Role:
  • Lead the design team in creating and developing new products and components using SolidWorks.
  • Evaluate and ensure all designs meet functional, aesthetic, and performance specifications while adhering to industry standards.
  • Participate in daily design tasks, providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support to the team.
  • Oversee the engineering and continuous improvement (CI) team, turning innovative ideas into manufacturable designs.
  • Collaborate with external customers to capture and incorporate design requirements into product development.
  • Supervise the structured product development process from concept through to production readiness.
  • Manage resources efficiently to meet project deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within design, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong expertise in SolidWorks, including 3D modeling, creating assemblies, and technical drawings.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead a team, effectively prioritizing tasks and allocating resources to meet objectives.
  • Hands-on experience with product lifecycle management and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills and a practical, problem-solving mindset, with the ability to work across departments and guide technical projects.
Compensation Package:

£44,000 per annum, plus a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional development and career growth in a collaborative team environment.
