Job Purpose:

To act as a vital link between our residential services and education provision, ensuring a seamless transition for young people between their residential and educational settings.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Support young people through their morning routine, including basic hygiene and breakfasting, to help them feel prepared for the day ahead.
  2. Attend daily handover meetings with residential and education staff to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  3. Escort young people between classes and to and from their residential home, promoting a safe and supportive environment.
  4. Provide individualized support to help young people meet their learning targets, including explaining teacher directions and promoting positive behavior.
  5. Participate in lunchtime activities with young people, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
  6. Advocate for young people's needs and provide support in crisis situations, using co-regulation techniques to help them manage their emotions.
  7. Liaise closely with residential care workers and teachers to ensure up-to-date information on pupil progress.
  8. Contribute to relevant reports on a daily basis, providing valuable insights into young people's needs and progress.
  9. Ensure a safe environment for all young people and staff by being vigilant and complying with Health and Safety guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Qualified to HNC Level and SVQ level 3 in a relevant subject or working towards this.
  • Ability to interact with young people who have social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise and converse with colleagues across various subjects.
  • Patience and a sense of humor.

Safe Crisis Management Training:

Successful candidates will require a level of fitness to participate in Safe Crisis Management training, which includes two days of theory and two days of physical training. The training must be completed within four weeks of an agreed start date.
