We are seeking a highly skilled Quantum Algorithms Scientist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the theory of optimization algorithms for gate-model quantum computers or a strong background in quantum algorithms, with a proven track record of contributing to this field.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct theoretical and/or applied research and/or software development for near-term quantum computing applications, with an initial focus on quantum algorithms and software for combinatorial optimization and constraint satisfaction problems.
- Collaborate with our team to author publications, presentations, patent applications, and other materials resulting from the research.
- Work collaboratively in a small team comprising full-time staff and affiliated PhD students.
- Support the growth and success of Phasecraft through other activities as required.
- Expertise in one or more of: quantum information and/or computation theory, theory and/or implementation of classical algorithms for optimization or constraint satisfaction, quantum algorithm design and/or implementation, or mathematical analysis of algorithms.
- Ability to work independently on research projects and in a team.
- Flexibility to work across different aspects of quantum software and underpinning theory.
- PhD (or soon to receive one) in quantum information, quantum computation theory, theoretical computer science, or a closely related field.
- Coding experience in quantum software development environments (e.g. Cirq, QuEST, Qiskit).
- Experience of implementing algorithms on quantum hardware.
- Strong publication track-record in relevant discipline.
- Software development skills.
- Enthusiasm for learning and novel research.
- Excellent communication skills.
