About the Role:

GSL Education is working in partnership with a reputable secondary school to appoint a qualified Teacher of English. The contract is for a maternity cover, with both Early Career and Upper Pay Scale Teachers being considered for the role.

Teacher of English Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver Key Stage 3 and GCSE English Language and Literature lessons, scaffolding lesson plans and schemes of work to meet the needs of all students.
  • Inspire excellent attainment in English, by promoting high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Encourage and support students' growth and development in reading, writing, and critical thinking.
  • Foster and inspire students' interest in English.
  • Provide English Interventions as and when required, with specifically identified pupils.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS.
  • Hold a Degree in English at 2:2 or higher.
  • Be able to provide teaching references that cover the last 2 years of employment. Placements will be accepted for ECTs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for teaching English and a commitment to student success.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for a new one.
