About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Gardener to join our team at The Goodwood Estate. As the custodian of our beautiful garden, you will be responsible for leading, inspiring, and energizing our existing team of gardeners.

The Goodwood garden is a stunning wooded landscape garden with formal areas and herbaceous borders. It is a central focus during our annual headline events, including the Festival of Speed, the Goodwood Revival, and the Qatar Goodwood Festival.

As the Head Gardener, you will play a key role in implementing our Sustainability Programme and Conservation Management Plan for the wider Goodwood estate. You will work closely with other Heads of Department to achieve our ambitious vision for the garden.

We are looking for a creative thinker with the ability to translate vision into reality. You will need to have demonstrable garden development experience, a good understanding of horticulture, and the ability to lead and inspire a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of gardeners to achieve our garden development goals
  • Develop and implement a strategy for the garden's growth and development
  • Work closely with other Heads of Department to achieve our sustainability and conservation goals
  • Collaborate with the Estate Stewardship Team to implement our Sustainability Programme
  • Ensure the garden is maintained to the highest standards
