About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Court of Protection Solicitor to join our leading team. As a Principal Solicitor, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of files in the area of Court of Protection, ensuring compliance with the firm's risk charter and departmental strategy.

The ideal candidate will have a progressive track record of managing a department, be regarded as a leader in their field, and have the ability to effectively share knowledge with others. They will also have a strong understanding of government legislation and the legislative process.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing the departmental budget and ensuring that staff and project costs are within budget
  • Overseeing the day-to-day running of the department and reporting any major issues or threats to business profitability or reputation
  • Running a caseload of files in the area of Court of Protection with compliance at all times with the firm's risk charter and departmental strategy
  • Identifying and developing skills, talent, and competencies in teams to ensure continued strong performance against targets
  • Ensuring compliance across the operational business unit with the code of conduct as set out by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA) and our Lexcel and FCA obligations

About You:

  • Progressive track record of managing a department
  • Regarded as a leader in field of expertise – an accredited specialist in your field, with ability to effectively share knowledge with others
  • Ability to evaluate existing operations and implement improvements within your remit
  • Understanding of government legislation/legislative process
  • Ability and willingness to challenge current methods of working
  • Experience in delivering business objectives and Emotional Intelligence
  • Leadership in profession/relevant industry committees/boards/associations/panel accreditations
