Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to work 1:1 with a Year 4 child who has autism and displays challenging behaviour. Our client is a warm and welcoming one-form entry primary school in Kilburn, committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for all our pupils.

Role Responsibilities
  • Providing Individualised Support: The successful candidate will provide tailored 1:1 support to the child, helping them access the curriculum and fostering their social and emotional development.
  • Managing Challenging Behaviour: They will develop and implement individualised strategies to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and effective manner.
  • Collaborative Working: The Behaviour Mentor will work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to create and deliver a personalised support plan.
  • Building Relationships: They will build a trusting and positive relationship with the child to promote confidence and self-esteem.
  • Progress Monitoring: The successful candidate will monitor and track progress, adapting strategies as needed to meet the child's evolving needs.
Requirements
  • Experience: We are looking for someone with proven experience working with children with autism and managing challenging behaviour in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with autism strategies, de-escalation techniques, and behaviour management approaches is essential.
  • Commitment: A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs and a proactive, problem-solving attitude is required.
  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in education, special needs, or behavioural support are desirable but not essential.
