About the Role
  • Cooperate with Local Planning Authorities and stakeholders to develop local plans and strategic growth strategies.
  • Discharge statutory responsibilities within the planning process, including commissioning specialist consultant support when necessary.
  • Apply specialist knowledge to evaluate the impact of complex planning applications on the Strategic Road Network, ensuring a measured and informed response.
  • Manage ongoing liaison with external stakeholders, providing evidence-based guidance and advice on local plans and Highways England's strategies.
  • Represent the Region at public examinations, appeals, and inquiries, working closely with partners to secure funding opportunities for network improvements.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience in spatial planning, development management, and associated legislation.
  • Proven understanding of complex infrastructure development programs and prioritization needs.
  • Qualified Town Planner or Transport Planner, or equivalent professional experience (Chartership desirable).
  • Experience working with local planning authorities, local enterprise partnerships, and a wide range of officials.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
Estimated Salary:

£60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
