Job Summary
The Laboratory Technician will provide technical support to academic and research staff in the Quadram Institute's Food Structure and Bioaccessibility Facility. The post holder will maintain working areas, analyze food samples, and provide general support for in vitro digestion and fermentation experiments.
Main Responsibilities
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Provide training on operation of specialized scientific equipment
- Write and maintain standard operating procedures and risk assessments
- Liaise with engineers for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- Support scientific research process and data collection
Requirements
- BSc/MSc in Biochemistry, Food Science, Chemistry, or related area
- Experience working in a laboratory environment
- Knowledge of biochemical and/or structural analyses
- Excellent organization and time-management skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
Person Profile
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biochemistry, food science, or a related field, with experience working in a laboratory environment. They will be able to provide technical support to academic and research staff, maintain laboratory equipment, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
