About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Menswear Designer to join our team at Ben Sherman Head Office. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for designing and developing seasonal ranges from research and trends to garment development in collaboration with our development team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Brand Director, designers, buyer, and technical team to produce a range that reflects the Ben Sherman DNA with a modern and contemporary execution.
  • Conduct trend research and identify emerging trends and opportunities for the brand, sharing conclusions with the team and identifying areas for growth.
  • Map out ideas against the range plan with the buyer and communicate these ideas at key meetings in a confident and enthusiastic manner, balancing commerciality and new seasonal ideas.
  • Create CADs for all options in the range, self-editing and making decisions on styles and details prior to key contact points with the head of design.
  • Maintain and update all design overviews, CADs, and make sheets throughout the design process.
  • Action seasonal proto and fabric developments with the buyers and technical team, handing over packs face to face.
  • Follow development of samples through with the buying and tech team to approve fabrics, colours, and proto fits from SMS samples through to bulk production.
  • Work autonomously day to day and plan workload throughout the season to meet key deadlines, planning key reviews and contact points.
  • Build strong relationships with the category buyer and develop an understanding of suppliers' capabilities, costs, and limitations.
  • Present the range to the senior management team and sales teams where required.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of best sellers and international market requirements to make informed decisions about the balance of the category options.
  • Understand and drive forward the sustainability of the range.
  • Assist the Design Director where required.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of Menswear.
  • Collaborative approach to working in a product team.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to design to price points.
  • Creative flair and imagination.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Engaging and able to work well with a range of teams across the business.
  • Occasional travel to London and overseas when required.
