Job Title: Residence Manager

Downing is seeking an experienced Residence Manager to join our team responsible for the operational activities within our student accommodation schemes in Glasgow.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high-quality service to our customers, ensuring the smooth running of the schemes, and managing a small in-house team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and motivate a team to provide a high-quality service to customers
  • Instruct the site team on Health & Safety, data protection, and current legislation
  • Manage partnership agreements with external institutes and meet relevant KPIs
  • Support hospitality and customer service functions, including presentation of communal areas and handling complaints
  • Manage the student cycle to ensure optimum occupancy and customer satisfaction
  • Assist in planning the availability and viewing of rooms
  • Contribute to achieving targets and preparing reports on KPIs
  • Interact with students professionally and report any welfare issues to the line manager
  • Provide customer-focused facilities and maintenance services, including management of utilities, waste, security, and cleaning contracts
  • Deliver the scheme's statutory inspection and testing programme and associated paperwork
  • Provide site/building management to ensure best practice, scheduling, and management of trades and support services
  • Organise, tender, and manage minor works, planned, and preventative maintenance programs
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and risk assessments
  • Manage defects and resolve complex or outstanding defects

Key Requirements:

  • Proven commercial experience in the residential housing or hotel sector
  • Experience in handling partnership agreements with large external institutes
  • Previous Facilities Management experience would be an advantage
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Dynamic and customer service-focused
  • Self-motivated, well-organised, and able to excel under pressure
  • Experience in building relationships and meeting KPIs
