About the Role
Sentara is currently offering a Sign-on Bonus for Qualified Medical Assistant Candidates.
This is a patient-focused position where you will work directly with a doctor conducting phlebotomy (lab), clinical and clerical duties. Your primary responsibilities will include bringing patients into rooms, taking vitals, verifying patient information, and preparing them for the doctor.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient care and administrative/clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Minimum of one year experience in a healthcare setting or one year experience as an EMT, Paramedic, and/or Corpsman preferred. Phlebotomy experience preferred, plus experience with electronic medical records.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) RQI required within 90 days of hire.
Qualifications
- HS - High School Grad or Equivalent (Required)
- Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or certified EMT (EMT-B, AEMT, or Paramedic) required.
