Job Title: General Practice Business Manager

Chapelgreen Surgery, a dynamic and forward-thinking NHS GP practice, is seeking an experienced Practice Business Manager to support the practice partners and provide managerial leadership to the wider practice team.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of practice functionality, ensuring staff achieve their primary responsibilities.
  • Functional management of all clinical and administrative staff, including direct line management of key personnel.
  • Recruitment and retention of staff, developing and implementing an effective succession plan.
  • Establishing, reviewing, and updating job descriptions and person specifications to ensure compliance with HR legislation.
  • Developing and implementing an effective staff appraisal process and resolving disciplinary and grievance issues.
  • Managing the financial elements of the practice, including budgets, petty cash, and contracts for services.
  • Maintaining an effective overview of HR legislation and ensuring compliance with CQC regulations.
  • Leading change and continuous improvement initiatives, coordinating projects within the practice, and ensuring the team reaches QOF targets.
  • Managing the procurement of practice equipment, supplies, and services, and adopting a strategic approach to patient services matters.
  • Developing and implementing an effective communication strategy, ensuring the practice maintains compliance with its NHS contractual obligations.
Person Specification:
  • Educated to degree level in healthcare or business, with excellent literacy and leadership skills.
  • Good standard of education, with experience in managing accounting procedures, including budget and cash flow forecasting.
  • Experience in working with the general public, managing large multidisciplinary teams, and performance management.
  • NHS/Primary Care General Practice experience, with relevant health and safety experience.
Requirements:
  • Relevant qualifications and experience in healthcare or business.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and manage staff.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of organization and attention to detail.
