About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a Quarry and Recycling Operations Manager to lead our team at Lockington Quarry, located near Derby in Derbyshire.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the environmental, safety, and operational standards of the quarry and recycling area, with a focus on cost control, contractor management, and performance improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and managing contract crush and earth works contractors
  • Delivering toolbox talks and ensuring compliance with business policies and procedures
  • Managing daily environmental, sustainability, and operational requirements of the quarry and recycling area
  • Ensuring the permitted recycling area operates compliantly in-line with its environmental permit/waste management license
  • Driving operational performance through KPIs
  • Resolving queries assigned to the sector in a timely manner
  • Maintaining site housekeeping to a high standard
  • Managing budgets for plant-related costs

Requirements

  • Experience in quarry operations
  • Experience in environmental, sustainability, and recycling programs
  • Previous experience in a Sand and Gravel Quarry environment
  • Previous experience in a recycling environment
  • Full knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work Systems
  • Working knowledge of H&S and Environmental policies

Desirable Qualifications

  • A role-associated degree in Environmental or Sustainability
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • NVQ in fixed and mobile plant operations
  • WAMITAB or equivalent qualification
