CAS Manager/Digital Modelling Manager
This is a key leadership role within our company, responsible for overseeing the design and development of current and future vehicle platforms and products. As a CAS Manager/Digital Modelling Manager, you will lead a team of digital modellers with diverse skill sets, ensuring the delivery of premium quality CAD solutions that meet design and engineering intent while adhering to key programme timing and budget constraints.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality CAD solutions that support design and engineering intent, while meeting programme timing and budget constraints.
- Lead and motivate a team of digital modellers to deliver premium quality CAD solutions, developing their skills and expertise to achieve exceptional results.
- Plan and prioritise the workload of the digital modelling team, utilising both permanent and agency resources to achieve optimal results.
- Provide accurate estimates for resource and time scales to enable efficient programme timing, while maintaining the highest possible output from the design studio.
- Establish and develop CAD delivery standards to ensure premium CAD delivery, regardless of the surface CAD package used.
- Support the production of physical properties to further develop company standards of excellence in craftsmanship and design detail.
- Ensure the integration of a high degree of feasibility in design properties prior to downstream engineering, taking a proactive role in suggesting and implementing design ideas using experience and judgement.
- Support the development of key cost and efficiency processes with the design studio, maximising output, minimising cost, and producing the best aesthetics possible.
- Support the organisation and management of external supply budgets to support premium automotive design solutions.
- Act as a technical expert for Class A production digital solutions with the design studio.
- Support the entire design studio and external departments of the company with feasible CAD solutions to design proposals, actively suggesting and implementing solutions using experience and judgement.
- Monitor, justify, and implement technical developments within the industry, with particular reference to the evolution of new technologies that could affect design processes.
- Drive craftsmanship standards from within the design studio to further improve the quality of production solutions.
- Support the identification of alternative and diverse sources of revenue that draw upon the range of disciplines within the design studio.
Key Qualifications:
- Fully CAD literate, with the ability to use a range of CAD tools to create and evaluate CAD work.
- PC literate, with the ability to use and understand a range of PC software to support the design process.
- Able to set up and use a range of visualisation tools, including projector and power wall facilities, to support the presentation of design team work.
