Job Opportunity: Senior Locally Employed Doctor in Paediatrics

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Locally Employed Doctor in Paediatrics to join our team at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Managed Clinical Service. This is a fixed-term 2-year rotational post via the Manchester International Fellowship Training Scheme, ideal for those wishing to gain UK experience at middle grade (Tier 2) level or as a preparation for MRCPCH exams.

As a Senior Locally Employed Doctor in Paediatrics, you will have the opportunity to gain specialist paediatric experience within one of the largest children's hospitals in the UK. You will be responsible for providing out-of-hours cover, attending ward rounds, and participating in out-patient clinics. You will also have the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in paediatrics, with experience in providing clinical care to children and young people. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. You will also have a strong commitment to ongoing professional development and a desire to contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Person Specification
  • Eligible to apply for full registration with the General Medical Council and a valid License to Practise with the General Medical Council (or demonstrates eligibility to apply for registration and license).
Education/Qualifications
  • A primary medical qualification accepted by the General Medical Council UK and verified by ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates).
  • MD/DNB or equivalent degree in paediatrics in a 3-year postgraduate programme (recognised by RCPCH).
  • Evidence of achievement level 1 RCPCH equivalent competencies in Paediatrics/Neonates.
  • Evidence of completion of formal 'hands-on' training in Advanced Paediatric Life Support and Neonatal Life Support (training in date).
  • Relevant experience in other specialties that would complement a career in Paediatrics/Neonates.
  • Evidence of relevant peer review papers and other extracurricular activities/achievements relevant to career in Paediatrics/Neonates.
  • Relevant contribution to management within Paediatrics/Neonates (rotas, committees etc).
  • Demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing, and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice.
  • Evidence of academic prizes and honours at postgraduate level.
  • Positive attitude towards members of the wider healthcare team.
