Head of Wealth Management Job Description

Cer Financial is seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Wealth Management team. As Head of Wealth Management, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to drive business growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Head of Private Banking to develop and execute business strategies.
  • Drive annual new business targets and ensure the growth and profitability of the Private Banking Wealth Management Portfolio.
  • Develop and implement sales lead generation strategies from internal sources, the bank, client referrals, and personal networks.
  • Onboard clients for private banking products and services, and proactively develop client relationships.
  • Anticipate and provide solutions to client needs, with a focus on meeting or exceeding agreed performance targets and objectives.
  • Assess client risk profiles, suitability, and appropriateness for Wealth Management Services.
  • Manage client investment portfolios using a range of portfolio management techniques.
  • Provide financial advisory services to enhance client investment decisions and promote education on wealth management.
  • Review client profiles to ensure investments align with mandates, risk profiles, and risk appetites.
  • Oversee client transactions and investments portfolios, and develop budgets and targets for private banking business.
  • Provide supervisory functions within the WM and Advisory Business Unit, ensuring relevant regulations are adhered to.
  • Ensure competence standards are upheld and maintained, and capture documentary evidence.
  • Assess, develop, monitor, and review competency status of advisors within the WM business unit.
  • Align advisors to appropriate levels of supervision and measure performance accordingly.
  • Develop advisors' competence through coaching, training, and certification recommendations.
  • Provide regular MI and updates to Senior Management and the Bank's external supervisor on advisor activities.
  • Develop dispassionate and objective relationships with third-party fund managers and professionals.
  • Represent the bank as an ambassador, both in the UK and externally, and travel on business as required.
  • Supervise middle office and back office activities, and assist in resolving client queries within the team.

Requirements:

  • At least 10-12 years' experience as a Private Banker/Investment Advisor.
  • Understanding of the UK regulatory framework and experience in implementing same.
  • Experienced manager of a team of advisors.
  • Direct knowledge and experience of the African market (West Africa).
  • Exceptional networking skills and client relationship management skills.
  • RDR Compliant – Level 6.
