Radiographer Specialist in Interventional Radiology

An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated Radiographers with a specialist interest in Interventional Radiology to work within the Interventional and Hybrid Theatre suites along with Cardiac Cath Labs and the Radiology department at Liverpool University Hospital.
This role requires working as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality imaging using a patient centred approach.
The IR department has 2 IR theatres containing Siemens Artis Q systems, 1 Ultrasound room and a 5 bedded recovery area. Trauma, MFU/ENT, Regional Vascular and Regional Stroke.
Applicants must be willing to train and work in all areas of IR, Hybrid, Cath Lab and General Radiography. There is a need to work shifts and partake in an On Call Rota.
As part of work in the Cath Lab and Hybrid theatres there will be an aspect of working as the sole Radiographic practitioner and the responsibilities for safe working practises, high quality imaging and a key understanding of anatomical imaging are the key to this role.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Participate in the radiographic rotation through the highly specialised areas such as Interventional Theatres, Cardiac Catheter Lab and Vascular Hybrid theatres.
- Performance of clinical radiographic duties as delegated by the Area Lead in each section.
- Participation in the 24/7 On-Call rota for Interventional Radiology.
- Work shifts as part of the Vascular Theatre Rotation.
- Participation in the vetting of appropriate request forms and discussion with the medical team regarding appropriateness and urgency of examinations in association with the Area Lead in charge of the area.
- To practice within the rules of the Health Professions Council.
- To ensure effective communication with patients, carers and all health care professionals about all aspects of patient care.
- Supervision and assistance in training of entry grade student radiographers, assistant practitioners and band 5 radiographers.
- Assist in the training of student radiographers and qualified radiographers in setting high standards of radiography in patient care and enabling each radiographer to become conversant with all the radiography duties in General radiology and Interventional Theatres.
- To work to radiographic protocols and policies as required under the ionising regulations.
Clinical Governance / Quality:
- To comply with the Health and Safety Policies of the Trust including attendance at mandatory training sessions as specified.
- To comply with departmental and organisational policies and procedures including reporting of all accidents and incidents.
- Monitor the condition of equipment within the Radiology area advising of any defects in equipment or systems thus providing an early warning for potential hazards.
