Job Title: PR and External Affairs Manager

Aberdein Considine is seeking a skilled PR and External Affairs Manager to join their Marketing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all press relations and public affairs, ensuring high-quality coverage of the brand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive external communication and engagement strategies that align with the firm's goals and values.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers to secure positive coverage.
  • Act as a spokesperson for the firm, handling media enquiries and supporting senior colleagues with media training.
  • Collaborate with Partners and teams across the business to identify and produce topical and timely content.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain the PR and external communications plan.
  • Create and distribute compelling press releases, articles, and other relevant communications.
  • Monitor media coverage and industry developments to identify key themes and potential risks or opportunities.
  • Manage crisis communications and reputation management initiatives effectively, should the need arise.
  • Manage the day-to-day relationship with our PR agency.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Experience in a similar role with a proven track record.
  • Experience of working in a professional or financial services environment.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills across a complex organisation with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • A confident and effective communicator across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be proactive, reliable, responsible, and accurate, with attention to detail.
  • Have a good understanding of media needs and stories that will drive a news agenda.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a legal environment.

  • Experience of delivering media campaigns to set criteria and deadlines.
  • Multi-disciplinary experience of communications in a corporate environment.
  • Demonstrate experience working and influencing partners, media, and key stakeholders.
  • Complex b2b senior corporate communications experience.
  • Excellent and demonstrable media relationships.

Knowledge:

Essential:

  • Market knowledge in all areas of Legal/Financial/Property.
  • Understanding the key requirements of media across all areas including local, regional, national, and trade titles.

  • Structured approach to working with attention to detail.
  • Proven interpersonal skills and ability to influence others.
  • Willingness to learn and introduce new ideas.
  • Confidence to challenge the process.
