Job Summary

NHS National Services Scotland is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Nurse Manager to join our team. As a Research Nurse Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership and clinical research expertise to support the Clinical Research Facility (CRF) teams across NHS GG&C in delivering a high standard of care to study participants.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of a first-level degree and evidence of continuing personal development. They will also have experience in managing clinical research projects, including both academic and commercial CTIMPs and non-CTIMP studies. Additionally, they will have highly developed clinical and technical skills, with the ability to support, train, supervise, and mentor research staff.

The Research Nurse Manager will be responsible for managing resources to support clinical research activity to meet objectives agreed by Glasgow CRF and Research & Innovation (R&I) senior management team. They will also liaise with national research teams and organisations to contribute to the development of collaborative working practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement management strategies and initiate processes and systems to facilitate the development of the Clinical Research Facility.
  • Act as lead nurse for an agreed number of studies supported by the GCRF, with responsibility for study management and study-specific staff training.
  • Lead, develop, and implement a recruitment plan to identify, consent, and retain study participants.
  • Manage resources to support clinical research activity to meet objectives agreed by Glasgow CRF and Research & Innovation (R&I) senior management team.
  • Liaise with national research teams and organisations to contribute to the development of collaborative working practices.
Requirements
  • Minimum requirement of first-level degree with evidence of continuing personal development.
  • Experience in managing clinical research projects, including both academic and commercial CTIMPs and non-CTIMP studies.
  • Highly developed clinical and technical skills, with the ability to support, train, supervise, and mentor research staff.
  • Significant management experience, with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop staff.
  • Personal development in research or relevant area, including current working knowledge of GCP, regulatory legislation, and research frameworks.
  • Ability to prioritise own and staff workload to achieve agreed timelines, quality standards, and targets.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, research web-based systems, and databases proficiently and effectively in the workplace.
