Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Support Worker to join our team. This part-time role involves working on a rotational basis across a 7-day week, with 24 hours available per week.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients, including personal care and assisting with clinical tasks under the guidance of a registered healthcare professional. Additionally, they will be part of a team that ensures the ward area is clean, safe, and comfortable for all patients.

As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will need to be able to work independently and complete clinical tasks after appropriate training and competency assessments as per our policies.

This role will start as a Band 2 position and will progress to Band 3 upon completion of required qualifications and competencies.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of the shift leader to provide clinical care to patients
  • Demonstrate attitudes and behaviors in line with NHS and Trust values
  • Assist with personal hygiene and moving and handling of patients
  • Develop positive relationships with families and carers
  • Respect the individual needs of patients and support their emotional, social, and cultural well-being
  • Participate in health promotion activities

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications:

  • Evidence of basic English and Maths qualifications or equivalent experience

Desirable Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent
  • Experience working on a neonatal unit
  • Previous experience caring for newborn babies

Essential Experience:

  • Comprehensive post-training experience
  • Experience with patients under 3 months old

Desirable Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience in team working

Required Skills

  • Basic IT and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload and make decisions autonomously
  • Teaching skills for health education
