Elevate is seeking a seasoned Commercial Banking Lawyer for an interim role. This opportunity will involve working in a Hybrid environment, with 2 days spent onsite in London. The assignment is expected to last between 3 to 6 months, with a possibility to convert to a permanent position. The ideal candidate will have expertise in commercial banking issues, contract drafting, and negotiation, with a background in a similar FinTech company in the financial services sector.

Key Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor with a practicing certificate, able to practice in England & Wales, with preferably 10 years of experience in commercial and corporate work, involving Financial Services.
  • Candidates with direct experience in a comparable FinTech company involved in Financial Services but with less than 10 years of experience will be considered.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in payments, banking regulations, outsourcing principles, and conduct rules, applying these to drafting customer, supplier, and product terms.
  • Excellent understanding of key regulatory and contractual principles, including contract formation, indemnities, consequential loss, and liability regimes.
  • Experience in drafting, negotiating, and advising on commercial contracts, including subcontracting and back-to-back arrangements.

Technical Knowledge

  • Good understanding of key contractual principles, including contract formation, indemnities, consequential loss, and liability regimes, as well as outsourcing.
  • Good understanding of corporate and commercial issues.
  • Working knowledge of relevant UK financial services.
  • Awareness of payment systems, retail banking, and consumer finance.
  • Awareness and/or working knowledge of the UK regulatory ecosystem.
  • Experience working in a scale-up environment in a high-growth company.
  • Experience with advising on and managing Material Outsourcing Agreements.
  • Knowledge of payment and financial services or a background in a regulated environment.
