Psychiatrist Consultant Position

We are seeking an exceptional Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Priory Cheadle Royal Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a 15-bed acute mental health unit, providing psychiatric care to inpatients and offering clinical leadership on the unit.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing care to patients on the Evergreen ward, a 24-hour admission service supporting local NHS services and PICU wards. As part of a multi-skilled, experienced, and motivated Multi-Disciplinary Team, you will work collaboratively to support patients in overcoming crises and achieving a safe discharge into the community.

This is a full-time position that requires the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, providing timely assessments, comprehensive assessments, and treatment planning in conjunction with the MDT. The post holder will also contribute to the unit governance through expertise and leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical:
    • Work as the Consultant and Responsible Clinician as part of the MDT
    • Take overall responsibility for patient care and treatment plans in conjunction with the MDT
    • Conduct timely assessments and comprehensive assessments with patients, external stakeholders, and carers
    • Contribute to the unit governance through expertise and leadership
    • Prepare and supervise reports for Mental Health Act Review Tribunals & Managers Hearings
    • Participate in a non-resident second on-call out-of-hours rota
  • Management:
    • Offer clinical leadership in collaboration with the Ward Manager
    • Ensure the ward is compliant with organisational and regulatory requirements
    • Attend ward governance meetings with the Ward Manager
    • Work with organisational quality improvement initiatives
  • Academic:
    • Attend monthly Academic meetings
    • Present cases and teach
    • Participate in audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives
