Job Title: Financial Planning and Analysis Manager

HS2 (High Speed Two) is seeking a highly skilled Financial Planning and Analysis Manager to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in supporting the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis in leading an insightful reporting and analysis function that services the rest of finance.

About the Role:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Heads of Finance and their teams based on trust and open communication.
  • Enable robust decision-making through analysis, insight, and reporting, including financial transactions, such as accruals, journals, and reconciliations.
  • Generate standard financial reporting to ensure consistent, accurate, and timely data and one version of the truth, including month-end reporting, cash flow reporting, and workforce planning.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the business and cost drivers to inform strategic decisions.
  • Provide analytical support to finance teams to facilitate Directorate performance evaluation.
  • Support the development of a financial strategy to enable successful achievement of objectives.
  • Collaborate with other areas of HS2, such as HR and Business Managers, to ensure a holistic view of the business.
  • Provide specialist finance advice for complex financial issues or involve relevant specialists, such as the Financial Accounting team.
  • Understand and present information to develop financial insight, control costs, and develop risk management strategies.
About You:
  • Strong communication skills to interpret and communicate complex financial issues to non-financial colleagues.
  • Technical accounting skills, including knowledge of current IFRS and FReM, and Government accounting requirements (DEL/AME funding) to ensure compliance of business plans with delegated authority.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and use it to support decisions and recommendations within the business.
  • Experience using ERP systems, data analytics software, and complex Excel models.
  • Ability to develop and set clear timetables, guidance, templates, and communications for use by the business that capture all relevant supporting information behind plans and forecasts.
  • Stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage, communicate, and develop consensus with both internal and external stakeholders up to Executive level.
