Job Title: Mechanical Assembly Specialist

Randstad CPE is recruiting for a Mechanical Assembly Specialist for a client based in Gloucester. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling and testing of capital equipment, commissioning in customer's overseas factories, and training of operator and maintenance personnel in the use of our equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assemble product development equipment and machinery to technical drawings provided by engineering.
  2. Modify parts and assemblies using hand and power tools such as drills, belt sanders, band saws, etc.
  3. Apply experience and creativity to problem-solving during the build and test phases of development.
  4. Set and test the equipment.
  5. Final testing and assembly of machinery in preparation for inspection and despatch.
  6. Install and commission the machinery.
  7. Train customer's staff at various levels at both our client's and their customer's overseas premises.
  8. Report writing and recommendations following all visits.
  9. Keep up-to-date expense claims and uphold the expenses policy.
  10. Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to other members of the team.
  11. Extensive worldwide travel, including weekend work and travel when required.
  12. Ensure all relevant machine documentation is completed accurately.
  13. Identify opportunities for process, productivity, and quality improvements by highlighting issues to management.
  14. Adhere to and apply all workplace management and rules consistently.
  15. Participate in improvement projects as required.
  16. Develop effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, customers, and suppliers to ensure the best outcomes.
Requirements:
  1. Must have completed a recognized Engineering Apprenticeship; ONC or HNC in Engineering would be advantageous.
  2. Dual-skilled and a proven track record of machine assembly and fault diagnosis.
  3. Able to use measuring equipment such as Micrometre and Vernier callipers with an attention to detail.
  4. Able to read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings.
  5. Able to read and interpret pneumatic drawings and circuits.
  6. Fault-find pneumatic circuits to component level.
  7. Understanding of electrical control circuits.
  8. Understanding of PLC Machine controls.
  9. Able to write concise informative reports and offer solutions to problems.
  10. Self-motivated and enthusiastic and able to communicate at all levels, both orally and in writing.
  11. Must hold a valid passport and be willing to travel internationally and be very flexible in terms of working hours and travel.

This is a full-time permanent position with a salary of £40,000-£50,000 depending on experience and a 9-day working fortnight, so you would have every other Friday off as well.

The role is fully on-site and will require occasional international travel at short notice when required. It also comes with overtime pay as well as an overseas allowance when you are required to go abroad.
