Job Title: Machine Shop Team Leader

A challenging opportunity has arisen for an experienced Machine Shop Team Leader to join our client's manufacturing team.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the machine shop team to ensure efficient production planning and execution.
  • Ensure that team members have adequate workloads and are utilizing their skills and expertise effectively.
  • Determine the best use of manpower and resources to meet production targets.
  • Manage tooling, fixtures, and relevant information to support team members' work.
  • Identify and communicate engineering requirements and issues to relevant departments.
  • Ensure routine maintenance is performed as necessary.
  • Handover responsibilities to or from another team leader at start or end of shift.
  • Manage staff attendance and development, including completing yearly PDRs for each team member.
  • Monitor and manage work attendance, identifying any training requirements or capability issues.
  • Conduct start-of-shift and end-of-shift meetings to update SQCDP charts.
  • Operate VMC machines and other workshop equipment.
  • Set and prove out jobs, ensuring quality is maintained throughout production runs.
  • Run milling machines after setting, ensuring quality is maintained throughout production runs.
  • Operate CNC and manual CMM machines, following instructions to run programs and check quality.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
  • Completed an engineering apprenticeship.
  • Good understanding of engineering practices and methods.
  • Knowledge of powder metallurgy processes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of machining methods, particularly vertical CNC milling machines and lathes.
Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, 06:00 to 14:00, with alternative shifts available. Overtime at time and a half.
