Job Title: Clinical Coder

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Coder to join our team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. As a Clinical Coder, you will be responsible for providing accurate and efficient clinical coding services to support the Trust’s clinical and administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive and high-quality clinical coding of inpatients and day cases using ICD 10 and OPCS4 classifications.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and other staff to ensure accurate and timely coding of patient data.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in clinical coding and medical terminology.
  • Participate in quality control and improvement initiatives to ensure high standards of coding accuracy and efficiency.
  • Provide training and support to junior coding staff and other colleagues as needed.
Requirements:
  • GCSEs 9-4 (A-C) in Maths & English or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrable expertise in clinical coding using ICD10 and OPCS4.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in the use of medical terminology.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Proven evidence of working with clinical data.
  • Proven knowledge of national coding developments.
  • Proven knowledge of patient management systems in relation to clinical coding.
