The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Clinical Research Practitioner to join their team in the NIHR Leeds Biomedical Research Centre (Leeds BRC) and Research and Innovation at LTHT. The successful candidate will contribute to research within the expanding field of Spondyloarthropathy Prevention and Spondyloarthritis and Rheumatology Research Portfolios.

This exciting opportunity requires candidates with clinical trials management experience in an NHS Trust, University, or pharmaceutical company. As a Clinical Research Practitioner, you will work closely with trial coordinators and nursing staff, liaising with medical staff involved in Spondyloarthritis and Rheumatology trials. The Leeds BRC works on a wide variety of clinical trials and translational studies in the field of musculoskeletal diseases.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct and indirect care, associated source data collection for clinical research studies undertaken in the department, in accordance with UK Medicines for Human Use Clinical Trial Regulations.
  • Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans for clinical trials participants.
  • Provide patient-centred care, support clinical trial participants focusing on high-quality patient experience.

You will be a member of the multidisciplinary team, advising and supporting clinical teams with research-related matters while maintaining your clinical skills. You may be required to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings, to support the development of clinical trial services. Additionally, working at different external sites, such as Care Homes, Schools, or other community settings, may be necessary.

Requirements
  • Clinical trials delivery experience and working in the NHS.
  • Ability to demonstrate clinical skills and teach relevant skills to other staff.
  • International Conference of Harmonization Good Clinical Practice training requirement.

As a Clinical Research Practitioner, you will ensure that research studies are conducted in accordance with study protocols, Health Research Authority (HRA), National Research Ethics Committee, and Trust Research & Innovation (R&I) Office regulations. You will adhere to national and local Research Governance Framework and legislative requirements to deliver the highest level of care to research participants.

In this role, you will identify, screen, and recruit participants into research studies, facilitate participant withdrawal when necessary, and maintain overall awareness of potential risks within the clinical area. You will act as a research participant's advocate, upholding the quality of each study and resolving complaints timeously.
