Job Title: Nature Conservation Manager (PO3)

The estimated salary for this role is £40,000 - £50,000 per annum.

This forward-thinking London Borough seeks a skilled Nature Conservation Manager to spearhead initiatives focused on preserving and enhancing the natural environment. As a key member of the Environmental and Sustainability directorate, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic programs aimed at protecting biodiversity, habitats, and ecosystems.

You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including government bodies, non-profit organizations, and community groups, to foster partnerships that promote sustainable land use and conservation efforts. In addition, you will oversee field projects, ensuring they align with best practices and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement comprehensive nature conservation strategies.
  2. Collaborate with stakeholders to create partnerships for conservation initiatives.
  3. Manage and monitor field projects to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  4. Lead and mentor a team of conservation specialists and volunteers.
  5. Conduct research and surveys to assess habitat conditions and wildlife populations.
  6. Initiate public education campaigns to raise awareness about conservation issues.
  7. Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders and funding agencies.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in environmental science, conservation biology, or related field.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in conservation management or similar roles.
  3. Strong leadership skills with experience in team management.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
  5. Proficiency in project management and strategic planning.
  6. Knowledge of relevant environmental laws and regulations.
  7. Ability to work in diverse environments and adapt to changing conditions.
