Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Software Design Engineer to join our team in Glasgow. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing software applications for automation and control of machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop software applications for automation and control of machinery
  • Support on-site manufacturing and laboratory facilities
  • Interact with customers during design and after-sales support
  • Work closely with electrical and mechanical design engineers
  • Actively work with all departments to identify problems and develop solutions to maximize quality
  • Maintain and continuously improve current products, fixing reported bugs and adding functionality to existing software
  • Generate supporting documentation, BoMs, reports, and user guides

Requirements:

  • Degree educated in software engineering, computer science, electronics, or similar
  • Advanced knowledge of hardware integration and industrial communication (EtherCAT & CANopen preferred)
  • Skilled experience designing applications with LabVIEW
  • Experience designing applications in C and C#
  • Knowledge of C++ & Python would be beneficial
  • Experience with PLCs, variable frequency drives, and stepper motors
