Language Instructor

Main Responsibilities

The University of Hertfordshire seeks a highly qualified Spanish language instructor to teach Spanish language courses at various levels on undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The successful candidate will employ a range of pedagogic methods to engage students in lectures, seminars, and sessions in both face-to-face and online environments. They will also prepare and disseminate learning materials and provide effective feedback and support to students.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teach Spanish language courses at various levels on undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
2. Employ a range of pedagogic methods to engage students in lectures, seminars, and sessions in both face-to-face and online environments.
3. Prepare and disseminate learning materials, including managing course portals on the University's Virtual Learning Environment.
4. Provide effective feedback and support to students.
5. Work closely with the CASE and Languages team to coordinate and monitor the organization, content, and quality of modules.
6. Participate in the School's administrative processes, including exam boards, program committees, quality assurance procedures, student recruitment, and admissions.

Requirements

• Experience of teaching Spanish to advanced level.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of contemporary Spanish and Hispanic Studies.
• Native or near-native proficiency in spoken and written Spanish.
• Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of best practice in language learning and teaching.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• A willingness to engage in activities that promote language learning across the university.
