Buckinghamshire New University is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lecturer in Business and Partnerships to join our team. As a key member of our academic staff, you will be responsible for contributing to the teaching and delivery of Professional, undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes in Business and Law.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to the development and delivery of curriculum in Business and Law, including the design and delivery of modules and programmes.
- Provide academic oversight and programme management of University-validated courses being delivered at multiple Partner Colleges.
- Work closely with staff at Buckinghamshire New University and Partner Colleges to ensure that all necessary University policies and procedures are properly followed.
- Support the delivery of rigour, due diligence, standards, quality, and positive experience in all aspects of the Partner student's journey.
- Participate in any administrative, review, quality assurance and reporting processes, including the attendance of meetings and adherence to key deadlines.
- Contribute to Open Days, school, college and partnership links and the marketing and promotional work of the Department and School.
- Support students in supervising placements, learning in practice, internships and work-related activities.
- Deliver pastoral care to, and project supervision of, students.
- Plan and deliver the curriculum using appropriate digital technologies, including the use of IT and multimedia.
- Provide effective feedback, support and guidance to students, which promotes improvement of performance.
- Engage in professional development activities (e.g. CPD, attendance at conferences) relating to teaching, learning and assessment.
- Conduct research and scholarly activity of relevance to the senior lecturing role and/or area of professional practice and align own research with teaching and learning.
- Engage with relevant business and professional networks to promote teaching and learning and research in a professional context.
- Maintain an external profile within own academic subject area at a level appropriate to the discipline.
- Maintain and foster the high reputation of the University in practice partner settings.
- Manage and lead on initiatives/areas of work which facilitate School and/or University performance.
- Demonstrate involvement in the support and development of Lecturers and Graduate Teaching Associates, contributing to the recruitment and mentoring of new colleagues, as appropriate.
- Promote the University values within the academic community.
- Adhere to the BNU Values and advance Equality Diversity and Inclusivity for students and colleagues.
- First degree in a relevant field.
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.
- Evidence of recent scholarship and/or continuing professional development relevant to the post.
- Recognised HE teaching qualification and/or Fellow of the HEA.
- Expert knowledge in discipline/field.
- Experience of working with Partner Colleges with regards to programme delivery, for example, in the role of Partnership Tutor.
- Relevant teaching experience in the UK or European HE sectors.
- Proven experience in dealing with students at HE level, writing teaching plans, course and programme management, curriculum development and validation.
- Digitally able and proficient in Microsoft tools.
- A willingness and ability to work in off-site locations, for example at Partner locations in the UK and internationally, and across all University campuses, as required.
- A willingness and ability to contribute to University Open Days (which may fall on Saturdays).
