Assistant Management Accountant (NHS AfC: Band 3) - Finance

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Management Accountant to join their Finance team.

The successful candidate will assist and support the Finance Manager and Management Accounts team in providing an efficient and proactive financial management service. This role is an essential part of the finance team, helping to support and advise on all financial matters.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide financial information and support to service managers and other budget holders in the financial management and control of expenditure at the direction of the Finance Business Partner or Deputy.
  2. Support the preparation and provision of variance analysis on a monthly basis.
  3. Assist in the maintenance of the system for the control of establishments, ensuring these are up-to-date and accurate, and that establishment and vacancy information is provided in accordance with key deadlines and performance measures.
  4. Support the Finance Business Partner and Deputy in the production of timely and accurate variance analysis reports and ensure variances are investigated thoroughly in order to provide the budget holder with comprehensive information to allow the budgetary position to be effectively managed.
  5. Reconcile control accounts on a monthly basis, and ensure that all outstanding items are cleared, with full explanations on reconciling differences.
  6. Ensure all accounting records, systems, and files are accurately maintained.
  7. Attend meetings with budget holders to review financial information and ensure the budget holder understands and takes action on negative variances.
  8. Contribute to the broadening of financial awareness across the Trust.
