Job Summary

We are looking for a Consultant Cardiologist specialising in inherited cardiac conditions (Heart Muscle disease) and genomic medicine to join our team at the Barts Heart Centre, based at St Bartholomew's Hospital.

The post will involve working within the Inherited Cardiovascular Disease Unit to provide expert care to this expanding population of patients. The successful candidate will be expected to be an expert in cardiomyopathy and be able to diagnose, risk stratify and manage patients with a variety of heart muscle diseases.

About the Role

  • Leadership, development and organisation of services in line with the Trust's business plans.
  • Development of own interests and sub-specialties within the specialty, including participation in research programmes.
  • To participate fully in the management of the department and to liaise closely with the Clinical Director, Service Manager, General Manager and Clinical Academic Group Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • To work within the Inherited Cardiovascular Disease Unit to provide expert care to patients with inherited heart conditions.
  • To develop and maintain skills in diagnosing, risk stratifying and managing patients with various heart muscle diseases.
  • To participate in the management of the department and to contribute to the development of services in line with the Trust's business plans.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cardiology, experience in inherited cardiovascular disease, and excellent communication and leadership skills.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is £110,000 - £140,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits.
