About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Reinsurance Broker to join our International Treaty team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing optimal reinsurance broking solutions, negotiating with markets to secure the best quality, coverage, and price, and creating and reviewing reinsurance documentation for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Excellence: Assist in designing optimal reinsurance broking solutions, negotiate with markets to secure the best quality, coverage, and price, create and review reinsurance documentation for clients, and mentor and support junior team members.
  • Client & Market Engagement: Coordinate project work for clients ahead and after renewal period as well as tender projects for procurement of new business, build and maintain strong relationships with clients and underwriters, stay informed about reinsurance market trends to enhance service delivery, and represent Howden Re professionally, providing top-tier reinsurance services.
  • Strategic Planning & Growth: Develop and implement team strategies, identify and seize opportunities to expand the International Treaty team's portfolio, support new business initiatives and support or manage client renewals, and participate in management meetings and contribute to strategy.
  • Operational Efficiency: Oversee and collaborate on administrative and processing tasks to maintain high service standards and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in reinsurance broking, focusing on P&C reinsurance.
  • Advanced understanding of the renewal and production cycle for our client and prospects.
  • Advanced understanding of reinsurance products mechanics and strong interest in reinsurance optimisation.
  • Specific Product area knowledge and in-depth understanding of related wordings.
  • Deep understanding of reinsurance market dynamics and product knowledge.
  • Strong customer focus and communication skills.
  • High level of numeracy, literacy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tight deadlines.
  • Relevant qualifications (ACII, FCA Level 1 preferred but not required).
