We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Alrewas Surgery. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications by our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Clinical Pharmacist in the safe and timely supply of prescribed medication to patients.
- Provide technical and administrative support to the Clinical Pharmacist and Clinicians.
- Carry out medicines optimisation tasks, including effective medicine administration and supporting medication reviews.
- Undertake medication reconciliation in line with practice standard operating procedures.
- Support medication reviews and medicines reconciliation for new care home patients and synchronising medicines for patient transfers between care settings.
- Support the Clinical Pharmacist in Structure Medication Reviews (SMR), such as organising necessary monitoring tests prior to SMR.
- Provide expertise to address both the public health and social care needs of patients, including lifestyle advice, service information, and help in tackling local health inequalities.
- Manage shared care protocols and liaise with Clinical Pharmacist for more complex patients.
- Support initiatives for antimicrobial stewardship to reduce inappropriate antibiotic prescribing locally.
- Participate in clinical audits.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office packages, including Excel.
- Good telephone manner.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of pharmacy terminology.
- Understanding of the principles of medicines optimisation.
- Current pharmacy knowledge, including law, ethics, and medication safety alerts.
- Effective time management and organisation.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures.
- Understanding of primary care concepts, such as Quality & Outcomes Framework (QOF), shared care prescribing, PCN Direct Enhanced Service (DES).
- Prior use of EMIS, an electronic prescribing and medicines administration system (ePMA).
- Experience of completing medication reconciliation and medication reviews.
- GPhC Registered Pharmacy Technician.
- BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmacy services.
