Job Description

Cygnet Hospital Wyke is seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary team in a 12-bed male PICU service. The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans, assess referrals, and undertake investigations, diagnosis, and treatment.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Taking overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Assessing referrals and undertaking mental state examinations of service users.
  • Undertaking appropriate investigations, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Participating in ward rounds and clinical audits.
  • Leading the implementation of risk assessment, risk management, and embedding clinical governance.
  • Supervising reports for Mental Health Act tribunals and managers hearings and attending hearings.
  • Participating in the 1 in 7 telephone on-call rota.

  • Fully GMC registered and MBBS (or equivalent) qualified.
  • Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC Status.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in adult psychiatry and mental health diagnosis.
  • Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity.
  • A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess, and treat patients and write clear, comprehensive medical notes.
  • Committed to continued professional development.
  • Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent.
