Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team at Breedon Group plc. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our cement products by conducting routine and non-routine testing requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze incoming materials, in-process samples, and cement finished products, including coordination with depots, weighbridge, and production workgroups.
  • Report test data in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure laboratory testing is conducted according to relevant standards, both internal and external, to a high level of precision and accuracy.
  • Assist the laboratory supervisor with managing customer requests and ensuring they are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the first-level inspection and maintenance of laboratory equipment, including laboratory reagents, and basic learning and operation of the automatic laboratory sampling system.
  • Assist in the calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure good laboratory practices are maintained, including COSHH and housekeeping.
  • Maintain sample storage, sample retains, and relevant records.
  • Work with external auditors for the product certification scheme for sampling and testing.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory legislation and internal company policies.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 GCSEs grade 4-9 to include English, Maths, and Science.
  • A-levels in sciences (BSc - desirable).
  • IOSH working safely - desirable.
Desirable Skills
  • Previous laboratory experience, particularly in materials science or construction.
  • Basic Microsoft Office experience.
  • Data handling and reporting.
