Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Learning Support Practitioner to join our team at HMP Wandsworth. As a Learning Support Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting prisoners to achieve their learning goals.

About the Role

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week (Monday - Friday with an early finish on a Friday). The successful candidate will work closely with the education team to provide support to prisoners in achieving their learning plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set targets to help with learning plans and write learning support plans
  • Assist teachers with strategies to support inclusion across the curriculum
  • Be responsible for all aspects of prisoners' initial induction to education, including assessments in maths and English

Requirements

  • To have a track record of working effectively with people presenting challenging behaviour
  • To hold or be willing to work towards level 2 qualifications in literacy and numeracy within an agreed timescale
  • To hold or be willing to work towards a level 2 or 3 qualification for Learning Support Practitioners within an agreed timescale
