About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated individual to support people affected by dementia in our community group. This rewarding role will involve welcoming and engaging with participants, helping them feel comfortable and supported.

As a Group Support Volunteer, you will play a vital part in creating a warm and inclusive environment for individuals living with dementia. You will help set up the group space, provide refreshments, and assist with activities designed to promote socialisation and engagement.

The ideal candidate will possess patience, understanding, and excellent communication skills. A friendly and approachable demeanor is essential for building strong relationships with our members.

This volunteer opportunity offers a unique chance to make a real difference in the lives of people affected by dementia. Your involvement will contribute to a sense of community and belonging among our members, enabling them to access support, information, and meaningful activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing emotional support and guidance to individuals with dementia
  • Helping to set up and tidy the group space
  • Preparing and serving refreshments
  • Assisting with arts and craft activities
Working Details

This role is based at Dovedale Hospital, London Road, Derby, DE1 3QR. Volunteers are required to commit to a regular schedule, with groups meeting on the 4th Tuesday of every month from 10am-1pm.

Please note that parking facilities are available on site, and payment can be made via the parking machine. Public transport options are also available, making it easily accessible for those using buses.
