About the Role
The Health, Safety & Wellbeing Lead is a critical position within Farrans Construction, responsible for supporting the Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) in implementing strategic priorities related to health, safety, and wellbeing across pre-construction and construction activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the SPA in delivering health, safety, and wellbeing strategies across pre-construction and construction activities.
- Provide guidance and advice to delivery teams on health and safety practices, ensuring compliance with the Health, Safety, Environment Management System (HSEMS).
- Conduct Targeted Verification Inspections (TVIs), Construction Safety Inspection Reports (CSIRs), and lead HSW advisory visits.
- Lead and support incident investigations and ensure proper reporting and resolution of HSW concerns.
- Develop and deliver HSW training programs and upskill team members on health and safety principles.
- Oversee and mentor HSW advisors to ensure high-quality outputs in inspections, auditing, and reporting.
- Collaborate closely with other teams, including the environmental team, to share knowledge and improve safety standards.
- Monitor health and safety risk, develop mitigation plans, and escalate critical concerns as necessary.
- Review and contribute to the development of safety documentation, including Construction Phase Plans (CPP) and Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Promote and uphold a culture of safety and wellbeing throughout the organization, encouraging proactive engagement with safety initiatives.
Requirements
- Previous experience in health, safety, and wellbeing (HSW) within pre-construction and construction environments.
- NEBOSH Construction certificate and working towards or holding IOSH membership (CertIOSH/CMIOSH).
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to innovate and implement digital solutions to enhance safety performance.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, providing direction and support to ensure high-quality outputs.
- Experience in incident investigation, report writing, and developing safety documentation (e.g., CPP, RAMS).
- Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
