About the Role

As a Vehicle Technician with East of England Ambulance Service, you will play a vital role in ensuring the trust's fleet of ambulances is safe, effective, and efficient. You will be responsible for diagnosing faults, repairing and maintaining vehicles, and ensuring they are compliant with MOT standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair faults in vehicles, making informed decisions on the extent of work required.
  • Ensure all motor vehicle repairs, pre-planned maintenance repairs, and vehicle servicing are completed within an accurate time scale and in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Provide a safe, effective, and efficient maintenance and repair service, adhering to MOT standards for all vehicles maintained by East of England Ambulance Service.
  • Work in rotation with other Mechanics, undertaking minor mechanical, electrical, and body work repairs and preventative maintenance on all vehicles at ambulance stations.
  • Participate in a rota for 24hr service and repair callouts, including travel to breakdowns and working in varying weather conditions.
  • Carry out MOT inspections and repairs as required, as well as mechanical and welding repairs as needed.
  • Responsible for the safe working practices undertaken when dealing with motor vehicle air-conditioning systems and maintaining security of stock and equipment used.
  • Keep workshops and equipment clean and tidy, reporting any defective equipment, and adhere to and deliver EEAST policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • C1 License category (or able to achieve) and full UK Driving Licence.
  • Extensive post-apprenticeship experience in vehicle mechanical engineering.
  • NVQ 2 in Vehicle Maintenance Repair (Light Vehicle) or experience gained in a similar working environment.
