About the Role

Yourgene Health is seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist II to join our OEM team at Manchester Science Park. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, verifying, and validating in vitro diagnostic products and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform office-based and laboratory-based activities in the design, development, and verification of in vitro diagnostic products and services.
  • Assess supplied data and produce required reports and documents for the design and development of in vitro diagnostic products and services.
  • Provide scientific expertise on development projects for use in a range of applications, focusing on the assessment and development of third-party products and services.
  • Ensure studies are planned and executed to high quality and in a timely fashion.
  • Provide scientific expertise and input into the assessment and development of products and services.
  • Contribute to all development phases of a project while considering the bigger picture.
  • Lead planning, execution, and reporting of work packages for new products and services.
  • Summarize large amounts of external data into report formats.
  • Set Quality Control Specifications and design of methods.
  • Create, maintain, and improve laboratory SOPs, as well as systems and process SOPs.
  • Data generation, ensuring integrity and organized data management.
  • Provide accurate and independent data interpretation, building experience of systems-level thinking.
  • Meet regulatory or other requirements.
  • Perform laboratory maintenance tasks such as lab maintenance, stock monitoring, goods in receiving, and cleaning.
  • Ensure own work meets regulatory & quality requirements (including compliance to SOPs, documentation using lab books, study plans, study reports, and integrity of data).
Requirements
  • Degree or further degree (or equivalent) in a life science such as molecular biology, biochemistry, or genetics.
  • Hands-on experience with at least two molecular biology-based assays and techniques.
  • Capable of analyzing data and providing interpretation.
  • Enthusiasm, drive, thoroughness, diligence, and a willingness to take personal responsibility to ensure that projects are successful.
  • Can summarize scientific data in written form to effectively communicate plans, progress, and ideas with Management, Peers, or External Audiences.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
