About the Role

Main Responsibilities
  • Work as a Pharmacy Technician within the Multidisciplinary Cystic Fibrosis (CF) team, assisting the Senior Pharmacist CF to provide a clinical service to the team.
  • Enhance patient care and contribute to clinically safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of drugs used within CF, including high-cost drugs.
  • Complete Medicines Reconciliation and counselling for CF inpatients and outpatients.
  • Support ongoing and new registration of homecare for CF patients under BCH care.
  • Participate in the pharmacy late night, weekend, and bank holiday service as required.

Person Specification
  • Qualifications:
    • NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Services and BTEC (or equivalent)
    • Registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician
    • Accuracy Checking Technician Award
  • Knowledge and Nature of Experience:
    • Medicines Management Experience providing ward-based services
    • Evidence of continuing professional development
    • Knowledge of data protection and patient/staff confidentiality
    • A clear concept of the developing role of the Pharmacy Technician
    • Understanding Patient's needs, enabling the delivery of a safe and effective service.
  • Analytical and Judgement Skills:
    • Ability to record data relevant to role.
    • Have problem-solving skills with the ability to respond to sudden unexpected demands
    • Able to make decisions on situations where there may be a number of courses of action.
    • Able to escalate issues and know limits of own ability.
  • Professional/Managerial/Specialist Knowledge:
    • Knowledge of computer-based stock control, dispensing systems, and associated technology
    • Work effectively with colleagues as part of a team.
