Main Duties of the Job

As a Diabetes/Health Educator, you will play a key role in delivering an exceptional, structured diabetes education service for patients across the UK. The role requires evening and weekend availability, with flexibility and adaptability being essential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering the EMPOWER programme to patients, ensuring it is delivered in accordance with the curriculum, syllabus, educator handbook, lesson plan, and service Operating Manual.
  • Ensuring the EMPOWER programme is delivered in accordance with all Spirit policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating with the Education Services Manager to achieve exceptional results and outcomes.

Job Responsibilities

The post holder will undertake training and pass a competence assessment to deliver diabetes education. Key performance measures include:

  • Undertaking a structured training programme and passing a competency assessment.
  • Annual observation and reaccreditation process.
  • Achieving a consistently high patient feedback score.
Principal Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of interactive structured diabetes education programmes in accordance with the set curriculum and lesson plan.
  • Using a range of sound teaching and learning techniques to improve participants' ability to self-manage their diabetes.
  • Ensuring the course is delivered using the most up-to-date programme content.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of delivering health education.
  • Sound clinical knowledge and understanding of diabetes.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
