About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and inspiring Learning Mentor to join our team at Vacancy Filler. As a Learning Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students who face barriers to education, including those with special educational needs and those with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized coaching and support to students using a range of support modes, including one-to-one and small group sessions.
  • Liaise with curriculum tutors, learning support assistants, and team leaders to ensure that students are progressing and receiving the support they need.
  • Work with team leaders to ensure smooth transitions to college and assist with the induction of students to college.
  • Implement strategies and support students in activities that develop their self-esteem and confidence-building.
Requirements
  • Resilience, articulacy, and the ability to form positive relationships with students.
  • Strong team values, a desire to innovate within the learning experience, and the ability to adapt flexibly to the changing needs of students.
  • Experience of teaching and learning strategies to motivate and engage students to progress.
  • A sound knowledge of SEND, safeguarding, and advancing EHCP outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills, with the ability to role model professionalism.
  • The ability to work independently and demonstrate flexibility that contributes to the team's effectiveness.
  • Competent IT and administration skills.
  • The ability to respond to change positively.
