About the Role

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Main Theatres and Surgical Day Case Unit (SDCU) as a Theatre Practitioner/ODP. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement patient care plans in partnership with other professionals and disciplines.
  • Take charge of the clinical needs of a group of defined patients, prioritizing workload according to changing clinical need.
  • Delegate tasks and activities to team members in relation to patient care.
  • Ensure accurate and timely nursing documentation in line with Trust standards.
  • Promote a safe environment for patients and administer medicines in accordance with Trust policy.
  • Respond positively to problems/issues for patients/carers, utilizing complaints procedures and PALs where appropriate.

Person Specification

  • Registered Nurse level 8 or C or C+G 752/ NVQ level 3 Operating Department Practitioner/ Dip HE in Operating Room Practice.
  • Experience of caring for sick patients in a variety of settings.
  • Good basic level of English language demonstrated through effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and use initiative.
  • Competency in medication administration including IV drug administration or willingness to undergo training.
