About the Role

Lanxess UK is seeking a highly skilled Control and Instrumentation Engineer to join our team at our Trafford Park site.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, commissioning, and management of control and instrumentation systems, as well as the development and implementation of safety instrumented systems.

Main Responsibilities
  • Management and support of site PLCs, SCADA systems, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
  • Design, commission, and manage the installation of instrument loops
  • Complete functional safety documentation, including SIL calculations and safety requirement specifications
  • Operations support, including fault finding, software interventions, training, alarm management, and process improvements
  • Support of Operational Technology Systems, including OSI Soft PI
Compliance
  • Supervision and provision of technical guidance to the Site Management Team for operational, safety, and regulatory compliance
  • Investigation of SIS failures and provision of solutions
  • Review and check of technical vendor submittals for compliance
  • Support of the site HAZOP programme
Site Projects
  • Management of C&I project pipeline, support of annual budget planning, and Financial Investment Approval processes
  • Project management and engineering of own small site CAPEX projects
  • Management of C&I resources within site and global LANXESS capacity expansion projects
  • Implementation of software and hardware modifications, implementation of Management of Change procedures
  • Larger Projects - support of FEED studies, provision of technical input, detailed engineering, execution, commissioning, and early operations
About You

You will be an experienced C&I Engineer with around 3-5 years of experience working in a similar position, preferably on a COMAH site.

You must be highly organized, with great attention to detail, and be a strong communicator.

You will be proactive and enjoy a mix of being out on plant and getting your head down to focus on projects.

You will have a degree in an engineering discipline, preferably controls or instrumentation, and be chartered or working towards it.

You will have previous experience with Delta V, and Fisher Provox experience is desirable.

You will have cost awareness and have managed maintenance and capital budgets.

You will have good organizational and problem-solving skills.

You will have detailed knowledge of common C&I regulations, such as IEC 61511, and ATEX.

You will have knowledge of current Health, Safety, and Environment Legislation and Engineering Standards.

You will have a good understanding of maintenance processes and experience of plant engineering activity.

You will have knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems.
