About the Role

GWR is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Retail Accounting Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our Retail Accounting Team, you will be responsible for overseeing the reconciliation and control of passenger revenue, as well as the recording and processing of information into accounting systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reconciliation and Control: Oversee the reconciliation and control of passenger revenue, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Accounting Systems: Record and process information into accounting systems, including ticket refunds for Great Western Railways and other First Group company retail accounting services.
  • Financial Control: Maintain and control day-to-day records of Retail Accounting operations, ensuring financial controls are in place and effective.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit regular reports to the Retail Accounting Manager on financial performance and any areas of weakness in financial controls.
  • Supervision: Supervise the monitoring of booking office records, identify and investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues in conjunction with booking office supervisors/managers.
  • Cash and Credit Transactions: Supervise the reconciliation and resolution of cash, cheques, manual credit cards, and warrant transactions.
  • Petty Disbursements: Supervise the allocation of petty disbursements.
  • Transfer Vouchers: Supervise the despatch of transfer vouchers and instructions to stations on a periodic basis.
  • Refund Processing: Oversee the processing of passenger and season ticket refund requests.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven track record of supervising a large retail accounting operation.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of retail accounting and booking office operations.
  • Skills: Strong communications and supervisory skills, attention to detail, and good financial control consciousness.
  • Software: Good working knowledge of Lennon and Excel.
